The Problem

Understanding the Problems Of Habit Tracking Apps

I employed several methods to gain insights into user behavior and identify opportunities for habit tracking apps. This included conducting user research with five university students, performing a competitive analysis, and reviewing user feedback on products in app stores.

Through this process, I pinpointed three key user pain points:

No sharing option

Sharing experiences on social media has become a common behavior among users, and there is a growing demand for this feature in habit tracker apps.

Inability to stop a habit

Many users desire more flexible reminder settings, as current options may not fit their schedules or preferences. During vacations, users often struggle to maintain their habits, which can be demotivating when they lose their streaks.

Community

While some users appreciate social sharing, many wish for enhanced community features, such as the ability to challenge friends or join groups.

The Observed Opportunity

Researchers at Yale University found that having a challenge friend can double the likelihood of successfully maintaining habits. [1] [2]

As a key feature of the application, I incorporated the ability to challenge friends and join new groups through a challenge pool to help users stay committed to their habits.

User Persona

"I love exploring new ideas and meeting new people; every experience is a chance to grow and learn something valuable."
